Morning Winter Fly Fishing Report

<p><div>Chilly morning, still got it done with black midges, cased caddis, and tiny gray sowbugs. Your technical technique will be the difference if you hook into fish. Light takes and a hard fight as the trout use their shoulders to leverage their power and try to snap your line!</div></p>

<p><div>We had a nice hatch of midges as the sun came out more and temps rise. Griffiths Gnat with an emerger 6-8 inches behind it did well. Trout ate both bugs. Flows are still low so find the deep pools and soft water to target trout! </div></p>

<p><div>Fishing was a little bit slower for the first 30 minutes or so but picked up. Cream midges size 20-24 were the ticket this morning. Did very well with a total of 10 in the net in the first hour. Poison Tung Midges in size 26 were also working well after the morning hours. </div></p>

<p><div>Dry flies, dry flies, and more dry flies! The fish were looking up for those easy meals. We used size 20-22 Renegades, Matts Midge, and Griffiths Gnats today..and the fish agreed!</div></p>

<p><div>We were working long stretches of water with streamers. Black and white Wooly Bugger streamers were working today. </div></p>

<p><div>Trout are gorging themselves with midges in the early mornings and tranisitoning to caddis in the late morni g early afternoon. The flows are the same around 500 cfs with clarity improving daily. Not much debris in the river.</div></p>

<p><div>Flows are starting to come down. The water temperature is still hovering around 40-45 degrees. Cased caddis size 18-20 and baetis black in color size 20 are the ticket. Trout are still taking midges. Clarity is improving but remains murky</div></p>

<p><div>We have midges coming off hard in the mornings with gray sow bugs. Flows are still up do use hot head sow bugs and hot head pheasant tail size 16-22 as this helps combat the clarity issue we are seeing. </div></p>

As a fly fishing guide here in Provo, I can't think of a better way to spend a June afternoon than out on this beautiful river, chasing some hard-fighting brown trout. The weather was perfect - clear skies all day, with comfortable temperatures that made it a real pleasure to be on the water.</p><p>We met up at the river around noon and wasted no time getting our rods rigged up and lines in the water. The Provo is known for its healthy population of brown trout, and it didn't take long before we started getting some solid hook-ups. Benjamin and his wife were casting like pros, presenting the flies just right to entice those fish to strike. We had a great mix of nymph presentations that really got the brown trout fired up. The fish were chasing hard, making acrobatic jumps and peeling line off the reels. It was nonstop action, and you could feel the energy building with every hookup.</p><p>In between the flurries of catching, we had the chance to take in the stunning scenery of the Provo River. The water was in excellent condition - clear and cool, with just the right flow to make the fishing really productive. As we worked our way upstream, we saw plenty of wildlife, from the ever-present waterfowl to the magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. It was a beautiful spring day in Provo, Utah, perfect for a peaceful wade fishing trip on the Provo River. I met up with Ethan and one other guest at 8:00 am to kick off our 4-Hour Wade Fishing adventure with Provo River Fly Fishing Guides. The weather was just about perfect - partly cloudy throughout the day, with a nice cool breeze keeping things comfortable as we hit the water.

We started off working some of the prime fly fishing runs, looking to entice some hungry trout to rise to our flies. The conditions were fantastic, with clear, great water that allowed us to spot fish holding in the deeper pockets and seams. While we didn't manage to hook into anything right away, it was just great to be out on the river, taking in the peaceful scenery and enjoying some quality time on the water. I showed the guys some of my favorite fly fishing techniques, and they were picking it up quick, making some nice casts and working the water methodically.

After a while, the action started picking up, and we began connecting with some feisty Trout. Nothing huge, but the fish were putting up a great fight on our lightweight fly rods. It was just one of those days where the fishing was steady, with enough action to keep us engaged without ever feeling too hectic. We rotated through different flies and presentation styles, reading the water and adjusting our approach to find what the fish wanted. By the time our trip wrapped up, we'd had a great time on the river, with plenty of laughs and some nice fish to show for our efforts.
